Drywall Mudding and Taping Contractors

Drywall mudding and taping is an art and a skill that often goes unappreciated. Have you ever wondered how a wall ends up being so smooth without any cracks or gaps even though it is built using individual sheets?

An expert at mudding and taping can turn any surface into a smooth and satisfying finish. Drywall mud is a compound that goes on the wall wet and dries over the course of a few hours. There are generally three coats involved in a mudding job.

Once we're done with drywall installation, it is time to smooth everything out and make it look perfect. The first coat is the thickest and is meant to fill in any potential holes and gaps along the wall. It is important to apply enough mud on the first coat to help maintain strength and congruency across the entire surface.

The second coat is where the mudder starts to bring the original coat and the naked drywall together. The first coat leaves quite a drastic change and the second coat begins to make things more uniform.

The third coat is designed to smooth out any final inconsistencies along the wall. At the end of the third coat the wall should look virtually smooth and will only require light sanding to have it ready for priming.

Drywall Taping

Drywall tape is used along with the mud to help create a uniform surface. The tape will be applied to the cracks between sheets and the corners of the room. The tape removes the gap and the mud sticks it in places and creates a drywall resemblant finish.

Without drywall taping on the corners of the room, whether it is on an inside or an outside angle, you would see gaps and lines of uncovered drywall along the edges. Corner beat allows the walls to have more strength and a better-finished look once the whole process is complete.

An expert drywall mudder and taper will know exactly where to put drywall tape, how much mud each coat needs, and how to fix any imperfections along the way.

Our team of experts uses the proper tools and skills to make sure the job is done properly the first time. That way you can start enjoying your freshly finished room as soon as possible.
